Hi. While I'm waiting for my first crop to grow I decided to buy some whole tobacco leaves to tide me over. The problem is I can't make a decent rollie out of this stuff. I'm shredding it with a pasta maker and no matter if I make strands or chunks the tobacco is difficult to roll and won't stay lit. Does anyone have any advice as to how to roll their homegrown tobacco? Thanks.

Hello
I bought that shredder (from Poland) the cut is finer than with a pasta maker http://www.tobaccoandmachines.com/fr/in ... odukt&id=8
I also use a cig roller (from tobacco store) easier than rolling by hand.
To get it ready to smoke, I always roast the shredded tobacco a few minutes in my wood-burning stove oven. It works well for me.

Thanks very much. I'll order one of the machines. Is yours a 0.8mm one?

I wanted a 0.8 but finally opted for the 1 mm because they didn't sell extra blades for the 0.8 at the time!

A cheap pair of china scissors works quite well and will generate enough shred for a regular ciggie smoker...
Unless you are among those who enjoy fancier gadgets...

I never could get mine to burn without going out.
So I buy some cheap bags of commercial processed tobacco and blend with it.
Night and day.
It does show there are chems applied to all commercial baccy.
Best

I'm a bit late in coming across your posting..
However, if you're still around to read this and haven't already wasted your money on one of these Cuthof 'machines', my advice is to not touch it with a barge-pole.
I bought one and was hugely disappointed. These things are simply junk. I won't waste my time or bore you with all the bad features - unless you ask.
For less than the price of one of these (from 'Wicked Habits', NZ$265) you can buy a really good shredder (Polish type) on Trade Me.

I'm only saying this from a 'New Zealand' point of view.
What requires the explanation? Why I think the the Cuthof is junk?
Here is a link to a Polish shredder. http://www.trademe.co.nz/antiques-colle ... 302932.htm

The Lognz looks like it might be good.

Still, a lot of money for me to fork out !
I'm still doing pretty well using a china scissors from the Dollar Store.

Best
