Hi
I think it is anything that makes the plant think they are going to die. So they start with the blooms . I have seen some bloom real early and some just grew and didn.t want to bloom . scare them a little   lee

I would say a combination of time and temperature in whatever suitable combination the plant expects.
Air AND soil temperature, that is to say...
Some strains will definitely favor one factor over another.

my indoor plant got a good beating .. light 24/7 (regular light) no water for days and even though a ferret diging em up could kill em or even scare em engough to mature .. anyway i just started to prepare for my winter project and i will try a few things to get em to mature like temp and light ...

Not sure about that, just joined - this is my first post. I know with fruit trees that if you chop them around the roots they start fruiting more.
With leaves I'm not so sure but I'm in that situation where I have lots of great plants and WINTER :o is just a few days away here in New Zealand.
I've got a bright idea to pick leaves early and hand them the 'right way up' - that is tip upwards. I'll let you know how that transpires. I'm fantasising
that it will yellow, and then brown, just because I told it to, by hanging it up the other way. Yes I know, I'm living in fairyland.

Welcome aboard HTGT, Harry.
Sounds like you will be fighting gravity, with your reversed hands.
Good luck with that.

Heck, I dunno... it might just work, down under!

Hi Stig,

It's going to be difficult in Norway, to grow a tropical plant, though some do quite well.

Perhaps if you are able to warm the rootball of the plant...

I was thinking of a 100watt incandescent light bulb in an enclosure, beneath the plant's bucket.
...built so very little light would escape, but heat from the bulb would warm the pot above it???
Of course there will be some danger with electricity and water that should be considered.

...just trying to think of an inexpensive method...

Good luck
rc

...just thinking... if your leaf does not mature, (get sticky with resin), the tobacco may not end up being very good, even if you are able to cure the leaf...

For tobacco to flower you need to cut the light down to 8 hours. To mature I really don't know, I think it's a combination of light, temperature, and humidity.

Sry, truth... I gotta disagree with that... based on experience.
It would be real difficult for me to cut down the light to only 8hrs during the growing season here in Kalifornia.
..and I had TONS of flowers on my baccy plants!
Plenty of pics in my photo gallery pages...

I bagged two or three plants of each strain, last year, and just let everything else go to open pollination.

I'm sure light is a factor in the development, but also time, and temp.
Humidity? Well, here in my part of Kalifornia it's drier than a popcorn bart during the summer months! Less than 20%.
and heat.. it's one notch below London Broil setting !!!! 110F + some days.. in the shade.

I use dripline irrigation.. probably somewhere between 1 or 2 gallons per plant every other day.
My sandy soil is quite porous and drains very well.

I'm just saying based on what I've heard. I meant to cut the light down if you're using a grow light. Else, I have no idea. Hopefully after this season I will have some more experience

Oh... grow lights...
I'm far too cheap to use any of those! lol
I guess I could never be a cannabis grower.
The spinning electric meter would probably keep me awake at night!

for a plant to flower you need to cut hrs of light to 8 hrs and drop the temperature and change the colour of the light to lot of red just a ordinary light lamp will do
