A little update here :)

I tried to water 1/3 of my plants a little less than the others, and it turned out I wasn't watering them enough in the frst place :o I do water them from the top with a sprinkler (or how is it called in English, that window cleaner bottle with hand pump), so I guess much of it evaporates on the top. I started watering them twice a day, and they look much better...some of them even have a small third leaf now. Looks like enough will survive my torture to make some tobacco :D

after the first week or so, start watering from the BOTTOM. let the container PULL water UP. this will help entice the roots to grow DOWN for water, not hover on the surface to collect it. If you do water from the top, pour in a LOT and make sure everything gets wet, then drains. the soil at the top will lose water faster, still leaving the deeper soil to remain moist.

Yeah, I will start dipping those trays in water, seems to be better that way :) They do have enough holes in the bottom so drainage should not be an issue!
