How to Grow Tobacco

I'm on a 24hr lighting program for my seedlings. They are less than 1" tall.
Would like to ask the others what is their take on a 24hr program for the 1st month then switching to a 12/12 or even a 16/8 program.

I don't think ANY living being likes light 24 hours a day. I'd cut it back to 12 on and 12 off. When I use a grow light I usually have it on for 14 hours. They need time to rest and reguvenate... in the dark.

Set timer to on and off same as sunrise and sunset. Then if you move them out they are still in tune with light.
Some growers of other types of plants switch from 24 on to 12/12 to start plants to bloom. changes their patterns so they go to flowers and and buds quicker. Lee

Yup, every living thing likes a bit of relief... and plants don't care much for beer, and hate vodka.
12/12 sounds pretty good, or maybe 14/10 once they get going well.
Check what those cannabis people do with their indoor grow rooms...

But I'm a cheapskate... I wouldn't pay for lights or the required electricity.
As it is, I wank every time I see the water bill... lol

24 hr lights are okay for a while...
just not all the time.
One thing I remember from biology, plants will burn out if they don't have some time to rest in the dark.

I would do 24 maybe for sprouting and initial growth but switch it to 20/4 or 18/6 if you want long light hours.

FALaholic , you can use 24hr lighting , it aint a problem , or use 20 hrs on 4 hrs off , but if you use 12on/12off this may cause

flowering as tobacco flowers with a reduced photoperiod ( daylight hours v darkness hours ) will go down the flowering route .

i run a couple of indoor gardens and my 600w hps/metalhalides are no strangers to 24hr lighting ( no problems in over 20 yrs ) , A1

Dunno if people are gonna see this as this is a dead thread, but I've been leaving my light on for my plant for months with out break... Am I royally screwed?

In the winter just before spring...18 hours on and 6 off.
Not to sure where i read that but worked for me.

Plants actually grow when the lights are off.

I have tried both ways and have not suffered any ill results. Before I started using a heat mat and covered germination tray I would run 24 hrs. just for the heat generation and was under the impression that it would help stimulate the newly starting plants. MY opinion is its all a matter of preference but if you think its stressing the seedlings give them some rest. They do need the light cycle to stay with the natural order and regenerate.
