What the crap kind of mites are these? I only ask because the vegetation that they seem to be thriving on is Indian lemongrass, a natural producer of pyrethrins, which are supposed to repel or even kill insects. So, what gives? Oddly enough they're ONLY on the lemongrass, at least for now. I had a little pile of ground lugs that I pinched off the other day so I threw them in a pot with a couple pinches of my bali shag red pouch and brewed a tea. Hopefully they're not immune to nicotine too. Anybody seen these before? I've been all over the internet this afternoon and they only information I can find relates to how wonderful lemongrass is supposed to be for getting rid of garden mites.

Perhaps aphids. Without a size scale, they look like small dogs.

Ah, good point. Well that blade of grass that they're gleefully destroying is about 4-5mm wide, making the larger buggy-bugs in that picture about twice the size of a typical brown mite that you'd find in a composter. They look like little grass seeds to the naked eye. The color is slightly off too but they're a pale to translucent greenish-yellow, and the vegetation that they're on is turning brown and withering from the tips down.

Whatever they are, I would give them a good soap spray.
