Sounds good mate! Will be learning about getting the seeds at the end of their life, and then bagging them up, and sending half off to you, and half for next year! :D

I'll post later on what variety they are and keep ya updated on how they go.
Funny thing is, they were actually a free-be that came along with the pb3 black UV resistant grow bags I bought online.

So bonuses around for all!

This is the last of my peppers for this year.

All told, I did not do very well.
Less than 50% survival rate and produce was generally poor.

I will read as much as I can before getting started next year.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!!!

This is the last of the peppers we were able to harvest from the one chile de arbol plant.

They went really fast around here!
the rest were bell peppers, and they didn't do so well, either.
lol

Grow them like baccy but with more water. Depends on the variety of chilli you are growing, the seeds I will be sending you need 20degs to come up and a nice hot dry summer to do well, the chinensis are a heat loving one. The baccatums do especially well when we have a milder summer and or I grow them in the shade. The Birdseye hybrids seem to like the intermediate and want a lot of water compared to the chinensis.

Mulch and a constant source of nitrogen are your best freind, hoarse manure is tops.

Cheers

Those little red peppers look great. I like to take the crushed red peppers and sprinkle them on popcorn. Some times I just use tabasco sprinkled on popcorn. either way it's better than salt. Lee

This year, the whole pepper thing kind hurt my feelings again... but it was better than last year.

Here's what happened this year...

Tina takes our 2 1/2yr old baby grand daughter out to the garden to pick cherry tomatoes... The baby has discovered the tomatoes are good!
So then she goes and picks a pepper and was chewing away at it...

...and that hurt my feelings!
lol
Actually, they have a good flavor...

By next year she will be able to speak better and understand.. and maybe listen...
Hopefully my luck will run better and I will need to tell her in advance, 'No, No... these are Hot! Not for you!'

.

When My grandson was 2 we stopped at truck stop for breakfast. I put tabasco on my eggs and b&g. grandson says he wants some too. so I gave him bottle and said it's hot hot tasting. he looked at me and said you eating it? Yes but I like hot "so do I" says he. Okay learn for self. He put some on and tasted it and then put a lot on. every one in truck stop was open mouthed . shaking heads. He still likes hot and is 20 now. If she didn't cry then she probably will like them again. My grandson has eaten them all his life now. wife took him to a restaurant and he found those little green peppers in a bottle that you sprinkle the juice on to make hot . He opened the bottle and eat the green peppers said wow those are hot . Lol Lee

Yep... some people, even kids, like the spicy pepper sauce, others don't...
Never know.

We use lots of tabasco here, but I like Valentina brand black label best.
We got Crystal, Sriracha, and a couple others hanging round.
I also liked the Rock-it Sauce a lot, but it didn't last long. It was serious hot.

The Butch-T powder that was mailed to me was by far the hottest I have ever had!
Must use with caution.

Hey RC!
Had a wee accident with th chillies. Ended up with only two plants :(

That's all good though I guess, they're alive and well. They're just pushing out the 5th and 6th leaves at the moment. So will be transplanting right next to my tomatoes in a week or two.

And will send you a bag of seeds in 3 or so months :)

How's the tobacco going atm RC?

Hi Sammy,
Growing season is over now.
Busy with the crockpot kiln getting leaf cured.
Still plenty of work!

Yes.
I should have enough to make it through until next year's crop.
Did not do well on the peppers, though.
Must read a lot before next year planting season!

hahaha. That's good though, about the tobacco that is!

I'm hoping my chillies go well, they look great, apart from the unfornate start and loss of a few plants, be we just gotta keep moving right?

I'm going to try get my hands on some Virginia Gold for next year's crop, I'll mail ya some with the chillies if I can get my hands on them!
