A buddy told Me to got pick the cherries off The tree at His house so the birds won't get them.(He is out of town for a while) We spent two days in the same tree, for a couple of hrs. a day. This tree is still full, and We picked over 80 pounds of cherries off that thing. I don't know what kind of tree this was, but the cherries are very sweet. They grew in groups of ten or so the entire length of every branch. We had to use cloth market bags just to hold them. They are almost $4.00 a pound here this week. Now what to do with this many? Pie any one? Mad-

Cherries are good. I like cherries.
Better to ferment them in a leak - proof container.
A cloth bag will be too messy.

I made a cherry pitter out of a fork. I bent the out side two tines over and mashed them flat. Then, on the two tines left, I bent the ends about 1/4 or a little less at a 90 degree angle. I stab it in the cherry and pull out the pit. Even the stem will stay if You want it left there. Now with the pits on the cherries I have, I am going to stratify them to plant.( in sand and peat moss vented) Some I may scarify as well. 6 to 8 weeks in the refer. will do the trick. You can crack the pit, if You are carefull not to harm the seed. It is in side the pit. My Wife made a pie with them last night. The pie is second to none! I will post the type when I ask Ken what it is. I also have some pics. to post also. This was a real treat! Mad-
