I need a new project. I have tobacco and home brewed beer now I need to do something else. I am looking at building solar panels.

imo, key factor with solar is the factory manufacture of the panel itself. There's a set price on the technology, per square foot, so searching for cheapest vendor or a used system is about the only thing that can be done.
You can build up the controller yourself, to save some money???
And then there are the deep cycle batteries.
Pricey, and they have a limited life-span. Heavy, and nasty, too.

Building wind generator experiments could be educational and fun... Rewinding generators yourself is do-able.

Same controller system required, and battery banks.

Quality of life can truly be measured by consumption of power!
A glitch in the matrix would have serious consequences for all of us!!

I'll watch closely to see what you learn as you begin to research a solar implementation!
