In USA they are trying to tax air!

Okay, not really but sort of.

There is a new bill being debated to tax, bicycles and running shoes... yep. I got an email about it, can't recall all of the details.. but it got my attention.

It seems that the folks are puffing out c02 and therefore harming the environment.... got to pay for that!

LOL: oh yes, the air must be paid for. Farmers' here are having to pay for research to find ways to stop the sheep and cows from farting so much, and yes they are going to be taxed for producing such dangerous emissions. Where will the madness end?

Webby, I remember those paper licenses well, and yes, NZ makes a useful test tube for experimentation.

What I still don't get is, if they really do wipe out smoking, where are they going to turn to next to gather all that revenue? The obvious I guess will be even higher taxes on alcohol, road user charges, fresh veg and milk! Or perhaps they will decide to legalise marijuana and tax that heavily instead? :) Then we could all drive around high while trafficking tobacco to pay for the gas in the fast car while avoiding paying taxes for the farting family cow that we hide out the back to avoid paying for milk (that we will need to make cheese 'cause we will have a permanent case of the munchies) - hmmmmm

 I see that trisheart! Funny!

Don't forget taxing our sneakers and bicycles!

I just wonder who will be the next villain when smokers are no longer the one that society and the powers that be like to kick?

Oh, us dreaded farmers with our cud chewing air pollutants.

Oops, still got me, I reckon my goats will keep me in the "most hated" list.

But, I like having my own milk, my own meat, and my own vegetables... bad me!

Maybe when they legalize marijuana we will all be so high that we allegedly won't care?

It used to be: if you didn't like the government where you are, just move away, there was always some place where laws didn't drive a person nuts. Now where do we move to?
No place to escape to and just live the simple, unassuming life, raising our animals, paying our bills, and taking care of our gardens, while enjoying a smoke when we rest from our labors, how is that so evil? Oh we are leaving big business out of the picture, there is the problem... let them control all aspects and we are good to go.

Gas here is 3.85 now reg. and one lb. cig. bac. is 11.00, papers are .97 for 150 and rollers are.98 all us.
My JEEP runs on water at 318-322 miles per gal. But it is running on Hydrogen from water. So I don't know how much that would be for gas in it. I never watched the ratio befor I went HHO. I just put Gas in two times a year and drive the crap out of it. LOL

Hi
Aren't there 453.5 gr in a pound? 453.5 is 18.14 X 25. 18.14 X 19 = $344.66 a pound. That is ridiculous.
A pound makes about 2 1/2 cartoons . My neighbor just went down town and made 2 cartoons at self serve store and paid $53.26
With the little I can grow and what I buy w/tubes taxes etc still cost me Less than $7.00 a carton.
Gas is up to $3. 58 last night. Lee

Oh just for fun I measured out 2 cups full of shredded tobacco. Not packed just poured into a two cup container. It made 3 packs (60) cigarettes. not by weight just by volume . Not packed.

When gas gets too high people use less. Bikes walks stay home etc. prices come down a little. When tobacco prices get to high--
Government adds more taxes and people complain. But prices go up. Never remember prices going down on tobacco since 50's Lee

oh couple more comments on gas and tobacco.
When gas usage goes down oil companies just stop pumping. Oil does not go anywhere. They just don't sell as Much. Government brags about the job they are doing saving oil and lowering prices.
When tobacco usage goes down. Government adds taxes so they can get same amount of money for less sales. The large tobacco companies just buy less tobacco. So little growers end up loosing years expenses and years wages. The little consumers end up paying more. While farmer goes broke  Government pats its self on back saying they are saving the public.
I Just think that both of these are things I just burn up Lee

avgas???

that's another thing that always ticked me off abt gubment.

I grew up in a small town with a municipal airport. (and 6 others in the county!) flight pattern glide path was over my skool. watched planes all the time!
There were small airparks all over the place at one time... private FB strips and muni's everywhere!

popular mechanics, popular science... (the magazines for kids!) always had articles about home-built aircraft and cover stories with some jetson like setting (almost) and a promise of active general aviation for our future...

FAA went and squashed all that stuff!
and of course, the insurance company people. them and lawyers did the coup de grace.
Tort reform...
Product liability...
Deep pockets.

This used to be a nice place!
Fun!

I still got plans for the Pietenpol Air Camper and Heath Parasol, somewhere around here!

what do they have now? FAR 252? something like that???
