But the most rare scooter is the Lambretta:

:-)

The mods look like more fun than the rockers !

Marie, I can not decide if it is a M-1948 or M-1951 military fishtail parka but they are constructed of cotton sateen, wool insulation, and removable silk liner... There must be patterns for all military uniform clothing ??

We found a Garden Cart Saturday. Needs fresh paint, but the engine seems to run well enough.

Hope it works well for moving things back and forth...

Wow, MAB , a Solex ! Good childhood memories for me ! Solex reminds me of my Aunt Jeannette. When I was about 4 or 5 , not more I think, I used to go to the bakery with my aunt on her Solex. She would have me sit on a cushion on the luggage carrier and i would hang on to her by holding her skirt. My aunt was a strong woman so all I could see from my little body was her bottom ! Absolutely nothing else ! My brother also used to go with my aunt on her Solex and when we talk about it now, we laugh our heads off !

lol... little Marie sitting behind her aunt ...

This was my first bike when I was 14 years old ... it was very cheap!

Rusty, the engine runs a roller that is applied to the front wheel ... so if it's raining the wheel slips and lacking the friction the motorcycle does not go ahead! lol

I have never had a Solex... But I would like to try one!
I think the best moped to be built in France is probably the Motobecane. I like mine a lot !

Solex did have some good advertising with Brigit Bardot picture taken while riding one !

The is perhaps my favorite...

It is a Ducati Cucciolo. :-)

Now, I have one Vespa 150cc to repair... and a few other china clones of the vespa design.

TEXAS

The msm news headline says...

Hurricane Harvey: Storm Slams Southern Texas as Residents Flee

I have no doubt the big windy/rainy WX has made landfall, and will most likely cause problems...

What I can Not see is Texans fleeing.

I do know a number of folks in Texas and not a single one of them would be discovered running away from anything ! lol

They certainly might look for a better position somewhere else, if they thought it to be to their advantage.

Anyhow, best advice seems to be get to higher ground, stay away from water, and don't drive your car on streets covered with water.

Best to all !

Rusty, That Cucciolo is kept excellently !!

Motobecane... I thought it was Italian! Then I read that at some time it was built in Italy by the Bianchi factory.
However, in Italy it was not very popular the moped model

Image

I liked the model with the long saddle ... lol ...

Image

The most popular moped in Italy was the Ciao:

I also have one (I do not use it anymore).

Ciao, Marco, and Bonjour, Marie !

My Motobecane is a Mobylette model, very much like the orange and dark blue pictured ones above.
I do like it very much !
( I need to repair a small clutch part, at this time. )

Excellent mopeds, scooters, and motorcycles are made in Italia, Marco !
A friend of mine recently bought an Piaggio scooter. Very nice italian styling and great power !

This is Not a nice tale that I have a preference for posting...

Rider dies in collision, day after the Eclipse, in Chattahoochee Forest

A popular Youtuber was killed in a collision while he and his spouse were riding their scooter in the Chattahoochee National Forest.
Apparently a van over ran them as they slowed to turn from the highway onto a side road.
Sean O'Connor was killed upon impact with the roadside berm.
His spouse, Carolina was apparently dragged, along with the scooter, for nearly 300ft before stopping.
This accident occurred shortly after the eclipse, which they had traveled to North Carolina to view.
Carolina was in intensive care for severe damage to legs requiring rods installed and multiple skin grafts. She also has 7 broken ribs and a pierced lung. She is now recovering somewhat and is able to eat.
Their channel, known by Road Warrior is very popular. They seemed to be a nice young couple...
RIP Sean
Speedy recovery for Carolina

Here's a clip from the Clay County Progress, a newspaper in Hayesville, NC.

There is a GoFundMe account set up for Carolina's medical bills.
It may be located in the comments on the last video they posted, of the eclipse, within the comments.

I'm sorry for the loss of your biker friend ... I after last little crash I only travel by car, it is more protected!
...
I'm also very sorry about Texas, it does not look as terrible as Cathryna, and instead it has become painful ... I think of Baylor and I hope it has not suffered any damage ...

Wow Rustycase, this is so sad and the name of the poor kid made me shiver all over. My son's name is Sean O'Connor, too!
I feel sorry also about the people in Texas . So much turmoil around the world and not always due to Climate....
Did you find a new place ?

Ciao, Marco... The unfortunate folks in those low areas of Texas will find a way to pull through, and recover.
Texas is kinda special that way...

Gosh, Marie... I'm sorry you had to see the name of your son in such a bad fashion. Oops! on my part...
Good thing he wasn't really in the US chasing the eclipse !

No, we have not yet found a new place to garden, yet.
Presently, our plan is to visit with a very large group of travelers who meet in Quartzite, Arizona, each winter for a large Gem & Mineral show. People travel there from almost everywhere. It is a significant social event.
It is my hope we will find people who will tell us good things about where they have come from so we may purchase a small plot of land.

How is our friend up in Denmark doing with his garden this summer ?
Any recent pics from him ?

Best, rc
