Hi all. Just wondering if any one has successfully ordered seed from the Tobacco Seed Company in the UK and had it get through the post to Oz. Ordered some cigar seed a couple of weeks ago and haven't seen anything yet.
Wondering if I'll get the nasty letter from the border fuzz.

I bought some from them a couple years back and it made it through.

Quarantine might nab them if unlucky and send you a letter about certification and what not.

2 weeks might be because Easter is generally a busy time for postage.

Its been 3 weeks now. Yep , you might have a point about Easter. What was the quality of your seeds like, did you get cigar varieties AntipodeanNuuska?

G'day Datman

I didn't get cigar varieties, I smoke a pipe and use Swedish Snus so ordered Burley original and I think I got Black mammoth and Del gold from them also.

They all germinated well but the Burley was the best performer yield wise.

I like to pick varieties with higher than average nicotine levels. I made a twist from these and it turned out well in a pipe. Going to make a batch of snus from them also when I get a chance.

Hopefully you'll get yours soon but there is a chance quarantine will detect the seed and hold it hostage and destroy it.

I have one cigar variety, Havana 142 which I sourced from a chap in Tasmania and I grew last season. Unfortunately I got side tracked with stuff so I didn't bag the flowers and they probably got crossed with other varieties. They didn't grow well anyway. Wasn't enough rainfall over summer and I wasn't around enough to take care of them as well as they deserved.

Anyway good luck.

I can post some seed if you want. Send me a pm with your details and I can ship them off free.

Cheers
ANT

Cheers Ant.

My seed arrived today, so about three and a half weeks from UK to Tas, which I suppose isn't too bad.
I got Black Mammoth and Connecticut broad leaf, will be interesting how they go next season.

Interesting you say you got Havana from someone in Tas because I got my Havana from CB in Queensland. Be interesting to find growers in our own area but I suppose we're a secretive mob in Aus.

Cheers.
