Just wondering if anyone has tried to (or knows how to) toast tobacco, or if it's even an option.

Only reason I ask is I really like Lucky strike...

I always toast my tobacco after shredding it. I sprinkle with a little bit of water mixed with some honey and then to the oven (180° C) about 5 mn and another 5mn after tossing the tobacco so that the humidity gets evaporated well. Careful, it gets toasted very fast !

It is difficult to duplicate any commercial cigarette tobacco because of all the chemicals used.
The method Marie described should work well, and the honey will assist the burn rate a tad.
