From JBW:

The source is here. Scroll down to "Tobacco".

http://docsouth.unc.edu/subject/t.html

These two give very good overviews of how to plant, tend, cure and store tobacco before the advent of modern

machinery.
Most of the info is still useful to the the home grower.

I also like the fact that all are free to copy and use for non-commercial purposes as long as the proper credit is

given.
Good info, good history, and free. What more could you ask for?

I grew up on a flue cured tobacco farm and find the history as much fun as the growing.
Perhaps a history section in your forums would be useful?

hi while playing on cp happened to see this.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmlhistory/5469703390/

Made me think how much tobacco industry had changed . when the few big boys started making taylor made cigerettes . it changed more than just the way we got cigerettees look how many people were working here . This is not a major tobacco area. these tobacco warehouses were every where . Alot of people lost jobs , with the comings of the new way to smoke. I don't care for all things that are progress. lee

edit to add
Now it won't let me back in unless I copy and paste to address line Sorry
but it is not hard to copy and paste
