After reading this article I thought I'd come here and try get some info (since I can't seem to find much on google)

I am aware tobacco has been around for quite some time but what I am wondering when the FIRST case of cancer (as we now know it) was reported in the old world (if at all really)...

1912, American Dr. Isaac Adler was the first to strongly suggest that lung cancer is related to smoking - http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.3 ... 5/abstract

What's not to say it is caused by the chemicals/fertilizers that were applied to tobacco crops at the start of the century or just prior to the 20th?

ok... My mother was a medical person.
She told me long ago the least I could expect from a habit was emphysema.
I have burned a lot of tobacco.
And worked with many of the toxic chems for the construction and mechanical industries...
She was right.

But I stopped buying commercial tobacco about 5 years ago. No chems in my baccy.
I now got the COPD, but no smoker's cough...

Moderation would be the key factor.
I do everything in excess.

All my own fault.
