I was told that my plants would benefit greatly if I use creek sand/soil when I transplant my plants from the pots to the ground. Is this true? Also, I put my chicken fertilizer down about 3 weeks ago. It has rained 3 times thus far and yesterday I tilled the plot again. I hope I didnt use to much fertilizer.

2? only need one answer. look at what is growing there. If grass weeds flowers etc are growing and germinating where you put chicken fertilizers it is not to strong. Look at sand in creek bed if it is just a sand bar no weeds = no nutrients, If the weeds are growing in the sand so will plants. sand is just small rocks . like the diamond I bought my wife . really small. I tried to tell her it will grow Didn't work.

That really makes sense, Lee.
...a lot of the time I don't see the forest because of the trees...

My crop of weeds is growing EXCELLENT this year! Probably a good sign!!!
I just now started turning them under.

I got my sweetie the biggest best rock I could find. One of them new fangled space-age ones from a laboratory!
...Cost me most of a days pay if I figgered in what I spent at the bar before I bought it!
:-)

That makes sense which is why I am a bit concerned. Nothing is growing where I put the fertilizer down. But I just cleared the plot this season.

weeds generally pop up in couple days. if You don't have weeds in couple weeks you added to much. may need to look for another spot to grow till weeds start. growing there. can add top soil but that could be a lot. better to let it set till some thing else starts to grow. You may still get a late crop in there . Just wait till weeds every where. No good answer on that one other than wait time heals.

well may be a way . depends on how many plants . still lots of work. You can dig out a spot for each plant and replace just that spot with good top soil. takes about a 5 gal bucket full each plant. easier to look for better spot.
